Don't Move To Louisville...Much Less Most of Kentucky

Don't move to Louisville! I mean it seriously that if you're from elsewhere in the rest of the country and you've lived somewhere isn't a huge ghetto or urban slum you'll be sadly disappointed at best and downright negative to melancholy at worst. It's not that great of a city and its seriously backwards and lives in a state of delusion with delusional thinking which might as well give it the name of Delusionalville.

I lived there for the better part of several years and if you’re thinking about moving there by all means don’t because its actually a very regressive city and area. They like to pronounce it as being someplace you’ll just love but overall unless you’re an upper middle class American family making 80,000 or above a year its really not all that special. Most people that live there are there because they were native born Louisville residents and or from Kentucky. If you want to live in a middle sized to larger city there are several options which are much better than Louisville and that’s most anywhere in the Eastern Us within a few hundred miles from Louisville.

Nashville, TN is much more economically and job wise progressive than Louisville and same could be said for Indianapolis, Columbus, Charlotte, Nashville, Kansas City, St. Louis Metro (not city), etc. That’s just the smaller cities of the region not including Cleveland, Chicago, Atlanta, etc. If you’ve got any real talent and abilities you can score a good job somewhere else and don’t waste your time on a declining city such as Louisville. Not to mention Louisville which might as well be called LouBilly because of the high percentage of hilljacks, bubbas and rednecks isn’t really anything to brag about. It’s main claims to fame are Muhammad Ali, the Kentucky Derby, bourbon and basketball.

If it wasn’t for those four things you would be looking at a city with not much more to offer than say Chattanooga which is 1/4 the size of Louisville. Nothing to against Chattanooga or Knoxville or other smaller cities but Louisville likes to puff up its chest real big about what a great city and urban area that it is yet its economically and educationally backward that is considered progressive while being in one of the worst states in the United States. Worst states for college educated people, worst states for K-12 education, 47th in just about everything out of the 50 states including personal income, family income, median income, educational achievement. Not to mention the worst state for retirees, children, minorities right down there at the bottom of most of the southern states.

Louisville is actually close enough to the Northern tier of states that it should be much more progressive economically, socially and overall quality of society things such as education, the arts, museums, cultural events. However, its like a big cow town based on the Ohio River where nothing really changes economically or improves because its been ran by the same type of small minded hilljacks even in the City/Metro Council and mayors that are basically mayors of a large Mayberry. That’s why businesses don’t largely come to Louisville because of the crummy schools in Kentucky as well as the lack of educated people along with being the 4th highest taxed city for local taxes in the country. Add in a fair amount of hidden racism and bigotry and low class culture and education and that is what you have in Kentucky and even in a so called progressive city like Louisville.

Louisville often gets compared to Portland, OR but its a laughable comparison for anyone who has actually been to both of those cities as well as anywhere else that has a similar type of lifestyle. Its not progressive at all whether that’s the crummy local economy, homeless people everywhere because their increasingly crummy jobs don’t pay decent wages, temp services galore, low wage employers that dominate Louisville especially low wage service industry jobs that don’t pay much above minimum wage when an apartment costs 700 to 1000 a month. Yeah, it looks cheap compared to Nashville or Chicago or Boston or NYC or the West Coast. Yet, you’ll find out that the local wage structure is about 25 percent below the national average in Kentucky without the resulting cost of living savings that you would get for being in a smaller city.

You can do better than Louisville…even if you’ve been a lifelong loser with limited educational/training prospects and abilities. It’s just not all its cracked up to be and I spent most of the last 15 years in that region so I know what it consists of probably better than most of the people that have lived in Louisville their entire lives. It’s that self absorbed and clueless in cultural advances that many of its residents and local yokels actually believe that Lou-A-Vull aka Louisville which sounds locally like Lou-A-Bull is actually someplace that is the end all and be all of society and culturally superior to anywhere else you could pick up and move to.

Despite the fact that much of the Louisville and Kentucky population but also over into Southern Indiana hasn’t really spent any real amount of their lives outside of the local region and in many cases has no real idea how the real world outside of Kentuckiana actually works.

Kentucky And Its Lacking Culture

Even as someone that despises Kentucky “culture” and society in general in Kentucky, I don’t think that’s a fair assessment and I probably dislike Kentucky and most of the people I’ve met there probably more than most people. I had the opportunity to visit about 100 out of the 120 counties of Kentucky and while it sucks there is no slave trading and such. The problem is the economy in Kentucky, the poor educational system that keeps people dumb and ignorant of the rest of the world and of course they double standards and hypocrisy that is all over Kentucky from the smallest towns to cities like Louisville. The problem with Kentucky is that most of it is a toilet with just nice scenery. If it was based on scenery in Kentucky I would live there in a heartbeat.

However, the people are generally D and F grade people overall with very few A and B type people that makes somewhere a good place to live. The schools are generally horrid and the people that graduate from them have virtually little knowledge of the outside world. Even in Louisville, much of the population can barely get out of its own area of the city which is only about 25 miles from east to west and 15 miles from North to South in Jefferson County.

You wouldn’t believe the amount and percentage of people in Jefferson County that haven’t been to the other parts of their own city area to see how the other 1/3 lives as Louisville is a city of about 3 or 4 different cities. There is the West End which is primarily minority majority population of African Americans. Then you have the South End which is mostly white with a mix of African Americans, Latinos and Asians. Then you have the East End which is mostly highly majority white with a sprinkling of other groups that can live there because of their income and social status that allows them a certain amount of economic independence.

However, you don’t see a lot of people in Louisville intermingling with people of seriously different backgrounds as they stick to their own tribal areas and largely tribal boundaries. You’ve got people that live in South End who won’t go to the East End and vice versa. Most people won’t go to the West End because of crime of course but also a racial element as most West End areas are 90 percent black as well. Furthermore you can have people that live in Louisville all of their lives and don’t know how to get across the city to other businesses, cultural events, social gatherings etc because they never get out of the 10 square mile area of the city where they live.

I’ve seen this plenty of times in the South End and the East End because in both of those areas there are enough retail businesses and other businesses to meet demand of the people in those areas. So what happens is that people get in their little cocoon of an area and rarely leave it. The goes for people in Kentucky not really knowing anything about surrounding states or other parts of America much less other countries. They don’t travel much unless its to the Redneck Riviera of Florida and Alabama for vacation and then of course for UK basketball or other sporting events.

In many cases, its a challenge for them to even make it as far as Cincinnati or Indianapolis or St. Louis or Nashville not because they can’t go to those places but because they don’t interested in learning about other cultures or places. The whole mentality that somehow Kentucky is the end all be all of human society and no one should criticize it or offer even constructive criticism of Kentucky and people get deeply offended over the smallest comment about Kentucky culture. I’ve never seen the mindset of a place where people get so offended over someone making constructive criticism of their state or the values of the people in that state. Much less actually present the facts about Kentucky such as it being 47th in the USA in just about every major category from things like personal and family income to educational achievement to health outcomes.

Don’t criticize Kentucky though is the general mantra you’ll get from native Kentuckians and others that are Kentucky centric type of individuals as they really do think they live in some sort of a heaven even though its quite apparent that economically, socially and educationally Kentucky is severely backwards. I didn’t have a negative view of Kentucky or any real preconceived notions about Kentucky before I moved there but after seeing the trash of Kentucky society in my face for several years from about 2005 until 2013 I can say that I wouldn’t want to live there again.

On the other hand if you like the good old boy system, vast public and social corruption, deadbeats who abuse the system and their fellow citizens and people with skewed moral and ethical values by and large then Kentucky is the place for you. I certainly wasn’t raised the way that obviously most people in Kentucky were raised and thank goodness for that because their values that they state and what they do is totally opposite in fact. Its funny too because you’re made to believe that Kentucky is a moral and religious society even though its quite apparent that the churches are largely places of social constructs rather than actually practicing ethical and moral values that would be in line with its religion.

Another thing you’ll be badgered about is your religion or church attendance or have someone constantly nitpicking about how you need to come join their congregation even though plenty of their own types don’t practice what they preach. Hypocritical of course but outright meanness at the best that despite of their religious talk they treat a lot of people like crap including religious minorities, blacks, Hispanics and anyone different than them. Not to mention the little cliques that you find in Kentucky society in people that should know better but if you’re not one of them then you’re either dead to them or they are going to be outright hostile.

It’s funny that they talk about Kentucky family values but I’ve seen their family values such as adultery on a grand scale, outright lying, bending the truth, theft and just general white trash type of behavior that most people with any moral and ethical scruples anywhere else would find abhorrent. If you like that sort of thing then Kentucky would be for you, if you’ve been raised with some sort of ethical and moral truth or in a community where such behavior is frowned upon then Kentucky is someplace that is foreign and alien to your ethics and morals.

Some of us especially in rural America and the Northern states weren’t raised that way and while we have our own problem with people misbehaving or being total leeches on society we also don’t smile upon it and look approvingly while some inbred yahoo shouts about Jay-Sus and either handle snakes or has some view that everyone that doesn’t follow their particular brand of hypocritical religion is going to hell.

The problem ties back into the fact that the educational system in Kentucky is so poor and backwards not because of lack of funding but the type of people in the state and the education system itself. Actually, school spending in Kentucky is about 11,000 dollars a year which is actually more than my current state of Indiana yet Kentucky regularly ranks anywhere from 41st to 47th in education for K-12 students not to mention 43rd in the quality of its post-secondary educational activities. Not to mention that Kentucky is 47th in the country in educational attainment.

Even worse is that Kentucky does such a bad job in educating its citizens that about 50 plus percent of Kentucky high school students actually fail to meet the standards of reading, writing, comprehension, math and science at grade level. In 2018, Kentucky students were proficient to excelling in English composition, vocabulary and spelling and writing at a 52 percent level. Which means that about half aren’t capable of reading, writing and communicating at a 10th to 12th grade level when these tests are given.

The same goes for math but its much worse as only about 44 percent of Kentucky students are proficient at 12th grade math skills as well as only about 37 percent are proficient at high school level science.

That explains a lot of things to me including the fact that Kentucky has about 900,000 people considered as functionally illiterate and incapable of doing basic tasks, basic jobs, filling out job applications, inability to write and reason intelligently to the point that the state knows this and it comprises about 20 percent of the population.

However, its much worse than that because I would say that as much as 35 or 40 percent of the people I’ve encountered in my travels to Kentucky and about 100 out of 120 counties were that way or you could tell that something was quite off mentally and educationally. I mean, the personal anecdotes and stories that I could tell you about my dealing with Kentucky society is just mind blowing in so many ways.

It’s not even based on emotion or arguments its based on facts and Kentucky is short on facts or at least the average Kentuckian is short on facts, figures, logic, reason and or common sense in many cases. What would go for common sense in most places in Kentucky would be considered as something not very intelligent people would do elsewhere. Yes, its really that bad that Kentucky seems to have serious problems using common sense, logic and reason to solve problems After most of that I just had to leave because I couldn’t tolerate in general such mind blowing stupidity in my everyday dealings with people from Kentucky.

I don’t find that to generally be the case in the North with most people having at least enough common sense to see through stupidity for being what it is. In Kentucky, its acceptable and celebrated to behave in less than dignified or often stupid ways and then act as if the other person has a problem. Of course, when you have a limited amount of intellect and common sense like so many in Kentucky have you’re not dealing with rocket scientists here. That is acceptable in Kentucky but it wouldn’t be acceptable in most other states in the West, Northern tier states and Northeast US. Maybe in some places in the South it would be acceptable but that’s much of the US South for you.

Add in the fact that Kentucky ranks so poorly in healthcare being one of the worst states, worst state for retirees, worst government state in the country and 3rd worst pension problem. You can also notice that Kentucky infrastructure development is about at 3rd world levels with thousands of bridges that are structurally deficient and gets a D grade from American Society of Civil Engineers.

Kentucky has a lot of issues with how they run government as well. For example one of the stupidest things is having the county clerks office issue drivers licenses and personal identification but then having to go to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to register your vehicle so you have to go two different places to get an ID and the paperwork and then go to the BMV to register your vehicle, boat, or motorcycle, etc.

That’s plain stupid to have a system that has multiple redundancies of government. Add in that Louisville is one of the most taxed cities in the country being 4th highest in taxes and its no wonder the Louisville economy is backwards and underdeveloped in many ways. Their mentality is to create more low wage jobs and low wage warehousing positions because that is the only thing that most of the people can actually handle by and large.

Not to mention Kentucky is economically and fiscally busted in many ways without having money to fix its increasingly collapsing infrastructure and broken roadways and bridges. Not to mention having the 3rd worst funded pension system with huge billions of dollars shortfalls where the state legislators both Republican and Democrat have kicked the can down the road for decades and not funding pensions and allowing double dipping. The only two other states that are worse funded pensions are Illinois and California being the worst states for funding state pensions.

Add in the fact that Kentucky income tax for a family making between 8,000 to 75,000 is about 5.8 percent which is much higher than neighboring Indiana and its 6 percent for anyone making over 75,000 whereas Indiana pays half the taxes at just over 3.2 percent of total income. So you get twice as much of a tax burden out of Kentucky yet about half of the services and more inefficiency and stupidity when it comes to Kentucky government and society. No thank you.

Louisville is one of the highest taxed cities in the country rivaling places like Chicago, NYC etc when it comes to overall tax burden. In fact, the average Louisville resident pays state and local tax burden of about 8 percent and that’s just on income and property taxes are increasingly eating up more of ones income as well. In Indianapolis, Indiana at 110 miles away the average local tax burden is about 5 percent with the state taking 3.1 percent and the local city Unigov taking about 1.9 percent and property taxes are just about equal. All so you can deal with Kentucky and its archaic laws, backwards society and equally horrible school systems.

Those are the real problems with Kentucky which no one wants to really acknowledge and talk about which is why Kentucky remains in many ways in the dark ages as far as US states perform and work.

Guess What Kentucky Trash? I'm Back and Ready To Piss You Off Some More

Kentuckians and by extensions Louisvillians or should they be more appropriately called Loubillyians since Lou Billy would be a more apt name for their city. A city which looks like a trash filled dump for 10 months out of the year where the local yokels throw their trash outside of their vehicles for someone else to pick up.

Louisville....a city that time forgot and pretty much the rest of the nation forgot long ago other than an inconsequential horse race that lasts two minutes. Where the local festival committee has to pay celebrities big bucks to the tune of 25k and 50k appearance fees to get people to show up to the sordid city of Louisville, Kentucky. Even better is the fact that LouBilly has to clean up their city every April to make it look presentable for the throngs of visitors for the famous gala at the beginning of May after which by June 15th the streets of Loubilly are littered with fast food bags, plastic waste, cups, household trash, beer cans and bottles, whiskey bottles and it looks like you've reached the seventh level of hell in just a month after that laughable event that goes for Kentucky culture.

Ironically a culture where being the biggest cheat and piece of filth carries on all the way from the governor of Kentucky or the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky as the yokels and provincials will tell you all about. They're a Commonwealth which really has no bearing on anything else other than being a lifetime welfare state that mooches off of more productive states in the North, Northeast and West that actually produce something.

Of course, Kentucky will tell you all about it how their mooching Senators get them all kinds of federal dole money while 1/4 of their citizens have never held a paying job in their lives and 500,000 plus Kentuckians are found to be functionally illiterate. In fact, people so stupid that they can't fill out a job application or do basic tasks that would be required of them at a workplace. A state where you can get a crazy check just by being found by some state board that you're a total nincompoop and incompetent without any real means testing just prove that you're a blithering idiot and they've got you taken care of.

Kentucky...a state where education is optional despite the fact that Kentucky in 1990 passed the Kentucky Educational Reform Act and proceeded to produce no real tangible results and improvements other than the fact that Kentucky in 2019 is 47th in educational attainment and generally in the 40s among the 50 states in educational quality assessments, college quality and overall educational best practices. Including a state that has been 44th or worse since 1939 over the last 80 years including being 44th or worse in per capita personal income as well as being 47th in family income and 47th in median income as of 2019.

Kentucky really hasn't changed over the years other than being a carbuncle on the rear end of humanity and it has been that for decades. Often so much that it pukes out tens and hundreds of thousands of its moronic citizens that drag down neighboring states such as Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, etc. Eventually no matter where you may live you'll eventually encounter one of these savage uneducated beasts incapable of basic common sense and basic humanity. Whereas they live in a cesspool in Kentucky and often move to their neighboring states in the Midwest and upper South to pollute the gene pool with generations of cultural stupidities, piss poor education and lack of basic sense that most people would at least attempt to try out.

For some inane and stupid reasoning Kentuckians somehow think that their state and society is innately superior to the other 50 states and their neighboring states despite the facts that their state as a whole ranks near the bottom of the US when it comes to all kinds of major socioeconomic categories. These categories are as far flung as incomes, family incomes, personal incomes, disease indicators, educational outcomes, educational attainment and learning abilities, etc. Not to mention that Kentucky ranks just about dead last in everything from efficiency of state government to health outcomes like highest heart disease and heart attack rate, #1 in smoking, #1 in diabetes, #1 in child abuse, #1 in elder abuse and worst laws for animal protection. A truly stinking state that is the laughingstock of America.

Even poverty stricken states like Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana at least have some level of pride and purpose to at least attempt to be good at something. In Kentucky, that would be basketball and that is about the only thing they can be proud of. Of course, when you live in a state of denial and that's no relation to The Nile in Egypt, its such that Kentucky is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to so many categories. Governance is a disaster with 120 local county chieftains most of whom could barely pass any college courses of consequence to do the job that they somehow get elected by the nincompoop infested population of Kentucky.

That's all for today but I'm sure my whining Kentucky critics will have something to whine about either with this blog or other forums.

Louisville, Kentucky: Impossibility City Part Three

Louisville likes to brag about how much of an economic progressive and improving place that it truly is. Nothing could be farther from the truth about Louisville which is why companies in the know such as Amazon are staying away from places like Louisville which is economically backwards and suffering from lack of investment in quality education and quality job opportunities. So now after decades of this rot and stupidity, Louisville's so called leadership is going to get on the ball and start doing something about it. The only problem though is that they've had decades to try to reform Louisville in their image and they've failed. All because they didn't want to give up the reins of power to people with more talent and ambition and less old world monetary influence. 

Which is why over the last 100 years or so, Louisville has went from being probably the predominant city of the Southern United States along with New Orleans to an economic basketcase with little to offer its remaining citizens and keep them there. At one time Louisville was a much larger city than other Southern cities like Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, etc. The leadership of Louisville or what was called leadership never wanted the city to progress beyond the 600k to 700k level that it is currently at because that would have meant that they would have had to share power with the citizens and others in the community that wanted equality and an equal piece of the pie. 

The old world money folks of Louisville and you can guess the longstanding community names and icons of the community wanted it to remain under their ownership and control that way they could remain the prominent and prestigious families in the city despite any wishes of new money and smaller people to attain economic and political control. So over the years, the money people in Louisville desperate to retain their status decided that it would be best to control and stymie economic growth to some extent that otherwise Louisville would grow too large and outside of their control. It explains a lot of ways why Louisville, Kentucky is behind the times as well the as the fact that the old money Louisvillians didn't want change and a prime example of that was the Ohio River Bridges Project. Which was originally started during the 1960s when the Interstate system was being built through Louisville. 

The amazing thing is that they spent decades holding back economic and social progress in Louisville to hold control over the community. Same with how the West End and the Chestnut Street black business district was allowed to be red lined into poverty and turning what used to be a functional part of Louisville in the West End prior to the 1970s into a black ghetto. They succeeded in that quest because the well to do owned the land and was able to force the closure of those black businesses which were middle class but didn't own the land in Louisville's downtown area. So the message was sent out and then over a period of years the black business district ceased to exist and poverty increased greatly. Following the push of the upper crust to force blacks into the formerly White West End, the whites eventually left the West End and settled in Shively, PRP, Valley Station and the like. 

Meanwhile, the former residents of Smoketown and Chestnut Streets and other black corridors were forced and red lined into getting housing in the former West End white controlled areas which were promptly abandoned by whites due to white flight and racial issues. 

This has been repeated in Louisville over the decades including for years when the East End upper crust did everything in their power to keep jobs and economics from growing in Louisville including other businesses wanting to come in. One prime example is their opposition to the East End bridge which would finally link the area together when it opened in 2016. Despite the fact that the Interstate System in Louisville including I-265 was to have had a East End bridge planned as early as the 1960s and 1970s. 

So now, its 2018 and the Louisville so called leaders and power brokers are at it again proving they are still clueless about Louisville and what the city needs to move forward. They no longer hold all the levers of power but they still have great clout especially in the political machine, business community, and the like. Which is why this is even more laughable that they have formed their own steering committees for the power brokers and their pawns in city government, local business, and other organizations. All the while the people are again being ignored or are in some cases so chronically stupid that they enjoy being screwed over time and time again. This nice piece in the Courier Journal talks about the power brokers and their unannounced and planned committees.

As usual, Louisville ends up proving that its not a major US city even though it probably does have the potential to be such. Its just that the local yokels end up finding ways to stub their toe and remain economically and educationally backwards. Almost to the point that Louisville and its residents and its resident power brokers aren't capable of maintaining some level of competence that would allow Louisville to advance from being now the 11th poorest city in the nation. A city that is economically backwards and increasingly unable to be competitive not only on in the world but also within its region in the United States. Add in a regressive tax structure in Kentucky which makes Louisville and the rest of the state suffer from 1950s era tax laws and the fact that many laws in Kentucky haven't been changed since the 1970s. 

However, the real blame goes to the so called upper crust of Louisville which has spent a generation mismanaging a city that should be a crown jewel in a state that really needs a lot of help economically, educationally and socially. They've spent years trying to keep Louisville backwards and the rot and disrepair is finally showing in the last several years. Especially considering that Louisville hasn't kept up with the times. Louisville in many areas looks like a post industrial economic apocalypse hit somewhere in the past few decades. As one well traveled gentleman told me once, he couldn't believe how bombed out Louisville actually looked and he had been to dozens of other cities that looked a whole lot better than Louisville. 

Louisville's so called leaders have spent decades keeping Louisville and the region from fulfilling its true potential which should be a massive economic jewel in the region. All because they couldn't get past their egotistical ways and lack of gumption to make the city and general area a much better place. Nowadays the rot is starting to be very evident as one can see the declining quality of life in the region and city as a whole. Evidence of this could be just going through the various neighborhoods of Louisville and looking at the degradation of the quality of life and economic conditions. Not only that but the increasingly rotting infrastructure and lack of development that is evident in Louisville. 

All the while the city tries to dress itself up for the famous May horse race it spends the other 10 months of the year not giving a single solitary damn about making its city look better. Trashy roadways, garbage everywhere, one of the highest rat infestation problems among US cities, bedbugs galore which indicates nasty conditions, etc. Add in the general disrepair of many areas of Louisville and the general economic disincentives such as high taxes and being the 4th highest taxed city in the nation. All the while remaining to be one of the poorest cities in the country now coming in at 11th place in the United States. 

Meanwhile, the power brokers continue to do what they've done for the past 100 years in Louisville which is why what used to be one of the largest cities in the South has been passed greatly by over the last 100 years by other regional cities as far as Texas, Georgia, North Carolina and other former Confederate states. Louisville has continually went backwards compared even to other cities in its local regions of the United States. At one time, Louisville was larger than Atlanta which now is the largest metro area in the whole Southeast. Louisville continued to go backwards because of the lack of intellect in its general population as well as the fact that the powers that be conspired to keep Louisville smaller and without other amenities and businesses that a thriving metro area would have. Add in the fact, that jobs in Louisville pay about 20 percent less than the US average and its not hard to see why Louisville now has so many economic and social problems despite the lower cost of living. 

Look at all of the other cities in the Southeastern US that used to be smaller than Louisville and have less opportunities and now are larger and more prosperous than Louisville. Not to mention those in the Ohio Valley like Pittsburgh and Cincinnati which are now much larger than Louisville. Or how other regional cities like Columbus, Nashville, Indianapolis, and Kansas City have long outpaced Louisville. Decades ago, Louisville was far the superior size of many of those cities but the backwards mentality of the local yokels and the political and economic kingmakers kept Louisville backwards and that way they could have an economically captive population. 

You would think that the citizens of Louisville would get tired of this shtick but they seem to be dumbed down to the point they can't mount an effective resistance to the power brokers control over their community. Its like they've lost all sense of right and desire to stand up for right. However, that somehow doesn't surprise me being that it is Louisville where mediocrity and being low mentality is readily acceptable.

One thing that I've never understood about Kentuckians at large is their ability to totally be oblivious to the garbage that their state truly is. Not to mention the fact that they are some of the most easily offended people in all of America. They get more upset over the smallest comments about their state. Instead of actually working hard to improve their state and quality of life, they either have to compare it to somewhere else in the United States that happens to have worse problems than they. In addition, they also have the thinnest skin and get the most upset because their state continually ends up being one of the worst states in the United States.

This despite the facts that on the Northern boundaries of Kentucky are Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana with Missouri to the west. So they don't have any real excuses for the fact that their state government and social systems have regularly been noted as being the worst run state in the United States. Not to mention that from 1939 to 2017, they have never went above 44th place in the 50 states in per capita personal income. NOT EVEN ONCE!
The laughable thing is that they are far enough north to never have really been a major part of the Confederate States of America and all of the issues spawned in the 152 years since the Confederacy was defeated by the Union forces. Instead of emulating their northern brothers in Ohio, Indiana, Illnois and even Missouri, they continue to be a lighter version of poverty stricken states like Arkansas, Mississippi, and West Virginia.

As one might expect, I get my fair share of hate mail from Kentucky residents. Which I don't know always how to react to either with scorn and derision or pity that these people many of whom simply don't know any better. I've stated this hundreds of times over the years when I both lived in Kentucky and outside of the state and its that there are good and decent Kentuckians but the mouth breathers seem to hold sway in the state. In that I've spent time in Kentucky during the 1990s, 2000s, and it hasn't changed that much over the years. I moved to Kentucky many years ago with no preconceived notions about Kentuckians and their society at large. However, I've been less than impressed when I've seen the type of society that Kentucky has continually devolved in over the years as in it seems to be going from bad to worse.

Not just in income and poverty statistics, but in the overall well being of said citizens of Kentucky. Yet when confronted with these painful statistics and truths, they suddenly become often enraged to the point of wanting to commit violence and criminal actions. Instead of logically and rationally explaining what they are doing to rectify the situation, most Kentuckians start by cussing their critics out or some other idiotic behavior. Rather than bucking up and fixing their problems, they choose to ignore what kind of a rotten place they actually live in. Then they'll in many cases start cussing someone out or talking about Detroit and its problems all the while Kentucky has more in common with Detroit or problem areas such as the South Side of Chicago income and poverty wise along with education.

So in essence, I get all kinds of nasty comments from Kentucky trolls and have for years so by this point it simply doesn't bother me. Maybe some of them I have truly asked for with my opinion of the average Kentuckian and their way of life. It seems as if their only real source of pride is either of their basketball programs at the collegiate level being the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville. Outside of that, there isn't much else to be proud of outside of bourbon production, some cars made in Kentucky, etc.

I suppose I could be easier on people from Kentucky but their often uneducated and idiotic responses are why I like to poke them with a stick and watch them get all kinds of upset regarding their plight. In which, they don't really have much in the way of rebuttals or explanations of why their state is overall a stinking fetid hole in the ground. Am I angry about it, no not really other than I am amazed at the level of ignorance and stupidity that many of the common people in that state exhibit on the everyday basis.

Anyway, I know this will get me the usual rants and complaints from Kentuckians along with the usual, I'll kick your ass comments because they can't say or prove or refute anything that I have really pointed out. Instead of focusing on their progress and achievements, overall they end up getting defensive about someone simply pointing out that lack of sense that exists in Kentucky.

University of Kentucky students and fans burning a couch in Lexington, Kentucky which is an event which has happened for many years. In true Kentucky fashion, these morons set on fire a couch in celebration of their basketball team winning some various even. In many of these celebrations, the white trash morons of Kentucky flip over cars, burn couches, and generally show their public stupidity. Stay classy Kentucky because you're in need of a whole lot of class.
